I'm a Celeb Fundraiser

Daingean GAA are hosting I'm a Celeb...Get me outa here as there main Fundraising event this year, all funds raised will go towards the building of a new community centre. The event takes place in the Tullamore Court Hotel on the 28th July at 8pm. Please come and support, tickets are available from "The Gaelic Bar", Tom Darcy's Gala, Postoffice, Scullys XL, Tullamore Court Hotel and Tommy Clarke's Barbershop.

Todays match between Daingean and Ballycommon has been called off due to the pitch being unplayable.

Annual General Meeting

On Friday the 19th January, Daingean GAA will host their AGM in the old school at 8pm.
If you would like to get involved in the running of the club please feel free to attend as all new ideas and voices are welcome.

Book Launch

On Friday the 13th October, Daingean GAA will lauch their book "The History of Daingean GAA 1889-2014" written by Sean McEvoy.
The launch will take place in Bord na Mona O'Connor park at 8pm. There will be guest speakers on the night and light refreshments.

There are two crucial fixtures for the week ahead. The Junior C team host Bracknagh this Friday at 6:45. On Saturday evening in Edenderry the intermediates play Clonbullogue at 6:30. Both games are vital and if we can record 2 wins both teams will be in the semi-final of their respective competitions.

Deepest Sympathies

Daingean GAA would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mick Keating.
Mick played in the maroon and white of Daingean for many years and is a former Chairman of the Club.
He was a great Stalwart of the Club and was always there to support the team throughout the years
His Funeral takes place on Friday at 11AM

Intermediate Championship

Daingean play their first match in this years Championship this Thursday evening (21st) against Shannonbridge. The match will be played in Tubber and throw in is at 8pm

Junior C Championship

Daingean face Cappincur in the Junior C Championship on Sunday the 24th. Thrown is at 6:30pm in Daingean

Deepest Sympathies

Daingean GAA would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ambrose Hickey.
Ambrose played at the highest level for both club and county for many years and was part of the Daingean Minor team that won the championship in 1962.
He was also part of the successful Daingean team that won the Senior Championship in 1965.
As part of the county setup he had the honour of starting for Offaly in the All Ireland final in 1969, and also won a leinster medal with Offaly juniors in 1972.
He was caretaker of the field for the last number of years and was always on hand if anyone needed anything done. He will be missed by many.

Best of luck to St. Vincents in the u21 County Final tomorrow against St Patricks. We know you'll do the parish proud.

March 17th

Daingean Gaa are holding a table quiz in the Gaelic Bar Daingean on Friday March 18th, starting at 9.30 pm sharp.
At the interval there will be a special performance by the current Offaly and Leinster Champions in Instrumental music, Patricia Colgan, Shauna McGarrigle,Emma Bracken, Ian O' Connor and Ciana McGarrigle.
All funds raised on the night will help fund the costs of reaching the All Ireland Finals in Killarney on April 2nd.
Table of 4 costs €20, all support appreciated

25th December

The Annual Married vs Singles game will take place on Sunday the 27th at 3pm. This year, the Over 30's will play the under 30's in what is sure to be an entertaining game

Dates for Your Diary
On Saturday 5th December, Daingean GAA will host a presentation night in Castlebarna Golf Club to celebrate the 1965 Championship winning team. The event throws in at 8pm.

Daingean GAA will be holding an end of year Christmas Party Night in the Tullamore Court Hotel on Nov 28th at 8pm. Tickets are limited and cost €30 per person. Please contact any committee member for ticket information.

Deepest Sympathies

Daingean GAA would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the Family and Friends of Adam Mangan who died tragically at the weekend.
Adam was a fantastic sportsman and inspiration to all who knew him.

Intermediate Championship Semi-Final

Daingean have reached the semi-final of this years Intermediate Championship where they will face Erin Rovers for the chance to reach this Years Intermediate Final.
We encourage anyone who is free Friday night to come suppport the lads. After winning the Junior A last year. the team have battled hard to get this far and need all support possible.
Throw in is at 08:00pm.

u21 Championship

St Vincents face Tullamore in the u21 Championship Final on St Patricks Day. This is St Vincents 2nd consecutive Final having captured the trophy last year. The match starts at 3pm and all support is greatly appreciated.

Daingean AGM

Daingean's AGM will take place on Wednesday the 18th of February at 8pn in the Town Hall. Nomination Forms for committee members for the upcoming year are available from Pauric Keating, David Feely or Brendan Donagher

Daingean GAA Dinner

After the hugely successful year that was 2014, Daingean GAA have their Dinner Dance on Saturday the 31st of January.
Tickets are available from members of the committee for what should be a hugely entertaining night

Daingean GAA would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and prosperous New Year
Also don't forget the annual Married vs Singles match which takes place on St Stephen's Day at 2:30pm. There will be mulled wine, sandwiches and selection boxes for the kids if you can brave the elements and support the lads.

Leinster Championship

All roads lead to Carlow this weekend when Daingean play Ballon of Carlow at 2:30pm on Sunday. Anyone that can make the trip to see the team through what should be a tough encounter, your support would be much appreciated.

Big Red Barn

This weekend sees Daingean GAA celebrate 125 years with a weekend of entertainment. It all kicks off this Friday Night with Ruaile Buaile at 9pm.
Micky Harte will be in attendance on Saturday to commemorate the occasion, and on Sunday the All Ireland Final will be shown live in the Big Red Barn

Daingean play Ballinagar in the quarter final of the championhip this Sunday morning at 11:30 in O'Connor Park. Please come and support the team in what sure to be tough encounter with our neighbours.

Junior A Championship
Daingean play Clonbullogue in their last group game this Saturday in Clonbullogue at 5:30pm. A win would see Daingean through to the Semi-Final so please come and support the lads

2nd August

Championship Final
Next Saturday the 9th of August, Daingean play Lusmagh in the Junior C Final.
This match is in O Connor Park at 3:30.
Please come and support the team.

3rd July

Junior C Championship
Daingean will play Lusmagh tomorrow evening in Lusmagh at 8pm. This is the last game of the group stage with a win for Daingean putting them straight through to a final, anyone who can make the long trip to Lusmagh to support the team, it would be greatly appreciated.

28th June

League Semi-Final
Daingean will play Raheen in the Division 2 Semi-Final tomorrow morning at 12pm in Bracknagh. This is the 2nd Year in a row Daingean have reached the Semi-Finals of the League, all support would be greatly appreciated.

Championship Football - Round 2
Daingean's 2nd match of the championship which was due to be against Ballycumber tonight has been called off as Ballycumber could not field a team.

Daingean's Junior C team will play Walsh Island this Sunday morning in Walsh Island at 12:00.

5th May
Championship Football
Daingean kick off their assault on the 2014 Junior A Championhip this Wednesday night in Daingean against Ferbane.
Theses two teams also met last year in the 1st match of the championship with Ferbane winning by a point. This is surely to be a closely contested match and all support will be greatly appreciated. The match throws in at 7.30pm.

Daingean's Junior C team also play their first match of the championship Saturday evening in Daingean against Doon at 7.30pm

6th March

League Matches
Training continues tomorrow evening at 8pm in the field.
Also this weekend, there is a division 2 match against Shannonbridge in Shannonbridge at 4pm on Saturday.
On Sunday in Division 4 of the league, Daingean play Ballycumber at 12:00 in Daingean

30th January

Training for the year ahead resumes this Sunday at 11:00, all players who have intentions of playing football for the year ahead must be present.
Remember lads, "the longest journey starts with the first step". That step is 11:00am, Sunday Morning in the field

St Stephens Day
The Annual St Stephen's Day match takes place at 3:30. All players both past and present are encouraged to tog out for what is sure to be a feast of footballing action.
As a prelude to this, the u12 team will be playing at 2pm, please turn up to support the future stars of the parish

Daingean Community Centre presents "Who wants be a Thousandaire" this Saturday in the Tullamore Court Hotel.
The show starts at 8pm and ticket price is 15euro.

Thursday 5th September

Championship Quarter Final
Daingean will play Ballycommon tomorrow evening(6th) at 18:45 in Croghan. This is the knockout stages of the Championship and all support will be needed in what's sure to be a tough encounter against our parish neighbours.

Daingean 1-7 Gracefield 0-15
A battling and spirited Daingean performance was not enough to overcome a very strong Gracefield senior team in the division 2 league semi-final in Rhode last Thursday evening. Gracefield got the opening couple of scores of the game against a Daingean side unbeaten at home in all competitions so far this year. Jamie Hayes responded with Daingeans opening score and a long range Jamie McCabe point reduced the deficit further. Gracefield increased there advantage just before the break with a series of unanswered points to leave Daingean trailing by 5 points at the break. Daingean continued to battle hard in the second half with a David Feely goal and Charlie Hayes point reducing the deficit to 3 points. A monster Karl Slattery point however increased Gracefields advantage once again and they went on to win by 5 points.

Monday 26th August

League 2 Semi-Final
Daingean will play Gracefield in the semi-final of the Division 2 League this Thursday(26th) in Rhode.Throw in is at 7:00pm
This will be a tough test against a strong Senior team and all support will be much appreciated

Monday 20th August

Junior A Championship
Daingean won the last two group games over the weekend and can now look forward to the quarter finals of the championship. Dates and opponents to follow

Sunday 11th August

Junior A Championship
Daingean will play the last two group games this week.
Tuesday evening they play Ballycumber in Ballycumber at 7:30pm.
Then next Saturday(17th), they will play Rhode at 7:30pm.
Daingean need to win both games to ensure qualification for the quarter finals and all support would be greatly appreciated

5km Fun Run
Next Sunday, the 23rd of June, there is 5km Fun Run in aid of Daingean Community Development at 12:00. It's 10 euro for entry and registration is from 10:30 in the football field.
There will be refreshments afterwards for all runners.

Congratulations to everyone who performed in "Strictly Come Dancing" at the weekend, it was obvious from the High Standard of the performances that alot of hard work had being put in the weeks leading up to it, well done to everyone once again.
Weekend Football
Daingean had a good win over Gracefield Saturday evening in the 2nd round of the Junior A Championship.
However the B team lost by 6 points to Kinnity in their opening championship match.
On Wednesday night Daingean face St Rynaghs in Division 2 of the league, the match kicks off at 8pm

Weekend Away
Daingean had their Annual Social Outing last weekend in Oranmore, a great weekend was had by all who attended, many thanks to Rachel, Tracy, Amanda and Maria for organising everything.

Reminder to all that training continues every Tuesday and Friday nights in the school at 19:50 and on Sunday mornings at 10:00

Thursday 20th September
Championship Semi-Final
Daingean play Kilcormac in the Semi-Final of the championship this Friday night at 8pm in Gracefield. This will be the second time the teams have met this year and all support would be greatly appreciated to help the Daingean progress through to the Final for the second year running.

Thursday 13th September
The club would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family of Kevin O' Reilly who sadly, has passed away at this time.
Kevin was a long time supporter of the club and such was his interest that throughout the years he could be found at every Daingean Match and many a training session. His note taking of the matches for the weekly papers always had a positive spin even when the displays didn't match his optimism

As this match is knock-out, all support would be greatly appreciated as the team try to make the Semi-Finals.

Monday 30th January
Daingean had their first training session of the year last Friday night, there was a strong turnout for such an early start to year,and with the league starting next weekend, continous good turnouts will needed to ensure both teams retain their division 2 and 3 status.

Tuesday 20th December
The Annual Married and Singles match will again take place this year on St Stephens's Day. The event, as per the last couple of years will be fancy dress, so get your costumes ready.

Saturday 26th October
The club are organising a social outing to Dungarvan in Co. Waterford on the weekend of the 24th and 25th of February. This is a club event rather than a players outing and is open to everyone.
The cost will be €95 pps for 2 nights accomodation at the Park Hotel in Dungarvan which includes breakfast on both mornings and a four course evening meal on the Saturday night.

County Final

Daingean will play Cappincur in the Junior A Final next Saturday the 22nd of October at 3:00pm in O'Connor Park. This is a huge day for the club and all support would be greatly appreciated.

The club would like to extend their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Peter McCormack who died during the week.

Peter was an integral part of the Daingean team who won two Senior Championships in the 60's.

Commiserations to St.Vincents on losing the u14 final at the weekend. However both players and management can be look back on the year with pride after winning the Offaly Feile competition. Congratulations to all involved and keep up the good work for the future.

Saturday 20th July

Daingean travelled to Ballycumber yesterday evening for the second last match of the group stage, Ballycumber played much the better football in the 1st half and Daingean were lucky to go into the half time break level, however in the 2nd half, Daingean took control and ranout 7pt winners

Sunday 7th July

In the Junior B Championship, Daingean drew with Tullamore last night in Daingean, this draw ensures that Daingean qualify for the Quarter Final stages.
However more effort is needed by all players as we enter the Knockout stages of the championship to have any hope of progressing

Daingean drew with Clara in the 4th group game of the Junior A Championhip. In the Junior B championship, Daingean lost out to Kinnity
Wednesday 20th July

Daingean played the Division 3 league final against Ballycumber on Monday night in Kinnity. On what was a close contest throughout, Ballycumber won on a scoreline of 10pts to Daingean's 9pts. Hard luck to all involved but it was great to see the team contest the Final, considering they only got promoted last year.
